生田緑地公園で幻覚を見る Hallucinating in Ikuta Ryōkuchi Park

思っていたよりずっと大きな公園に行って、中に何があるのか全く分からない。私の携帯電話には、番号もインターネットもないので、電話もメールも何もできないのです。この絵は、そこでの体験から生まれたものです。

公園は、本当に都市の中に入れ子状になった、鬱蒼としたジャングルのようなものでした。木は巨大で、昆虫や植物、動物も私の慣れ親しんだものとは全く違っていて、釣り合わない感じがしました。また、ほとんど人がいないのですが、人に出会うと明らかに違う言葉で話しています。このようなことがすべて（そしてそれ以上）組み合わさって、非常にシュールな体験とちょっとした感覚の過負荷を生み出しました。

I went to a park that was allot bigger than I expected, and I had no idea what was inside. On my phone I don’t have a number or internet, so I’m not able to call or text or anything. This painting is derived from my experience there.

The park was really just a thick jungle, nested within the city. It started occurring to me how different all the nature is compared to England, as the trees are huge and all the insects, plants and animals are so different to what I am used to, and feel really out of proportion, e.g there were kids playing with beetles the size of a hand, and wasps the size of my thumb. Also there was barely anyone there, but when you do encounter people they are all obviously speaking in a different language, so all of these things (and more) together combined created a very surreal experience and a slight sensory overload.
